Press Conference at Lakewood Heights Home Raided by Police on Saturday
ATLANTA, GA — On Saturday, February 10 at approximately 6 p.m., the APD, GBI, FBI, ATF and the Secret Service raided a home in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood. Police broke down all three of the home’s external doors and damaged furniture belonging to the residents. No residents were home at the time, and police confirmed they did not have an arrest warrant for any person associated with the home. The residents of 501 Harper Lane SE say they were indiscriminately targeted for their opposition to Cop City.
“This raid was based on a blatant lie and not meant to find evidence of an arson. Instead, the police contrived a scapegoat to demonstrate to their higher-ups that they are able to respond quickly to an arson in the neighborhood. And, more importantly, it is a warning from them that support for the movement against Cop City means that they can suspend your constitutional rights,” said Luke O’Donovan, who owns the home that police raided on Saturday.
Today at 12pm a resident of 501 Harper Lane SE will speak outside the home about the raid and its aftermath.
