Veterans Against Cop City Announce Boycott of Atlanta Falcons
ATLANTA, GA — On Sunday, September 17, Veterans Against Cop City and supporters of #StopCopCity will kick off a boycott of the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The protest event will take place from Noon-2pm at the stadium’s main entrance.
Attendees plan to issue, “The People’s Penalty Flag: Offsides!” to Falcon’s owner, Arthur Blank for his ties to and support of the Atlanta Police Foundation (APF), the “non-profit” organization funding Cop City.
Arthur Blank, co-founder of Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta United soccer franchise, has, through his “philanthropic” organization, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, funneled millions of dollars to the Atlanta Police Foundation. We are calling on Mr. Blank to fund projects and organizations that better serve the communities of the greater Atlanta area, not the APF
We are also encouraging the Atlanta Falcons players of come off the side lines and stand in solidarity with the movement Stop Cop City.
We are urging all supporters of the wasteful, ecocidal and anti-democratic Cop City project to join the boycott until The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation cuts ties and stops funding the APF.
